Students Get A Dental Care Boost Through Book Kit

It’s well-timed after a weekend of Easter treats.

Grade 1 students in Anglophone South School District schools will be getting a kit promoting the importance of dental care.

Author Ian Wilms contacted superintendent Zoë Watson offering to send the kits featuring his book Brushalot.

“The kit also contains a stuffed horse named Incisor. Incisor has a pouch around his saddle area and that is where the child would place their tooth,” Watson said.

The kit also contains a tooth-shaped night light which is meant to help guide the tooth fairy to the child’s tooth.

Watson said Wilms didn’t hesitate on the number of kits needed.

“In a district our size extending from Sussex Corner from Grand Manan Island, we would have between 1,500 and 1,600 Grade 1 students. That was a large number and he was very happy to supply those,” Watson said.

Some of the kits were distributed last week and more will be going out this week.

April is Oral Health Month.
