The untimely death of comic giant Robin Williams as the result of an apparent suicide sparking discussions about the nature of depression which Williams battled himself for years.
Forensic suicidologist Dr. Greg Zed tells us Williams was in a group at a high-risk of suicide which is men in their late 50s and early 60s and as a community we need to do a better job of reaching out to people in these high-risk groups. He says it really is quite difficult for people suffering from severe depression to come forward so it’s very key for us to be able to detect it.
While the academy award-winner may have seemingly had it all, fame, fortune and family, Dr. Zed explains that mental illness knows no bounds.
Williams was 63 when he died.
