Summer Cruiser Recap August 14-16

Hey everyone! Quick update about last weekend’s events and a heads up as to where you can find me next weekend. Next weekend (Aug 21-23) I’ll be at out at KV Oasis donut run, Safe with sage, Founders cup, Community fair, Qplex and so much more! but before I get into that, here’s a bit about last weekend!

I started my Friday at Meenan’s Cove, and what a great spot to kick off the day! The beach was beautiful, peaceful, and even the seagulls where there enjoying it. It was the perfect place to soak in the scenery and enjoy some fresh ocean air before heading off to my next stop. Definitely a hidden gem worth checking out!

My next stop took me all the way out to Sussex, and yep, it was the Sussex Flea Market! With over 400 vendors, there was truly something for everyone. No matter what you were looking for, from antiques and collectibles to handmade crafts and Vintage clothes there was plenty to discover around every corner. I spent quite a bit of time exploring the grounds and even managed to find a few gems to bring home myself! Every booth had something different, which made the whole experience feel like a treasure hunt.

If all that shopping and walking worked up an appetite, there was no shortage of food options. Food trucks were scattered throughout the grounds, offering plenty of delicious snacks and meals to keep visitors fueled up for the day. There were also vendors set up inside, so even if the weather wasn’t perfect, there was still lots to browse and enjoy. Overall, the Sussex Flea Market was a fun and exciting stop, filled with great finds, and plenty of surprises. It’s definitely a place where you can spend hours exploring and still leave feeling like there was more to see!

My first stop on Saturday was down at the Carleton Community Centre for West Side Days! There was so much happening that there was never a dull moment like a delicious BBQ, petting zoo, bouncy castles plus they even had live music! One of the coolest attractions of the day was the opportunity to take a ride on a fire truck! I had a great time handing out some chips from Old Dutch and some swag and prizes! Overall, West Side Days was a huge success and a wonderful way to spend a Saturday Afternoon. With so many activities, great food, live entertainment, and community spirit on display, it’s easy to see why this event continues to be such a popular tradition on Saint John’s west side.

My next stop was the brand-new floating dock at East Riverside Kinghurst Park, and I was excited to finally check it out! I had seen so many pictures of it online, so it was great to see it in person and experience it for myself. The dock is a really nice addition to the area and offers some amazing views of the water. After hearing so much about it online, it was awesome to finally see what all the excitement was about. The floating dock adds a unique feature to Kinghurst Park Overall it was a fun stop and definitely worth the visit. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I highly recommend adding it to your list!

My last stop of the day was over at King’s Square for Third Shift, Saint John’s contemporary art festival, and it was a great way to wrap up the day! There were so many cool art installations set up throughout the square, and each one was unique in its own way. Some of the exhibits were even interactive! Of course, I had to give a few of them a try myself! It was awesome to see art that people could engage with and get to try themselves. The festival had a great atmosphere, with lots of people out exploring, taking photos, and enjoying all the creativity on display. Overall, Third Shift was an amazing experience and a fun way to end a day full of adventures!

One of my stops on Sunday was out at Irving Nature Park. There was a little bit of fog in the air, but that didn’t take away from the experience. I made sure to stop by the beach I even had some chips from Old Dutch to give out along with some Swag and Prizes! No matter the weather, Irving Nature Park is always a beautiful spot to visit!

My final stop of the weekend was down at the Saint John Boardwalk for the Founders Cup Opening Ceremonies, and it was an awesome way to wrap up a busy weekend! It was so cool to see athletes from all over coming together for the event. There were also lots of family members, friends, and community members who came out to cheer them on and be part of the celebration. The opening ceremonies where a great way to kick off the tournament! Overall, it was a fun and memorable event, and a fantastic way to end the weekend!
