Summer Social Tour Team Shows Their Love For Local N.B.

If you’re on social media, you may be familiar with the Love For Local New Brunswick Summer Social Tour.

Jason Gallant is one of two Ambassadors for the Tour. He says they’ve been posting their adventures to Tik Tok, Facebook and Instagram, “We are actually hitting 104 communities in New Brunswick to celebrate everything that is local. So it’s really about going into the towns and finding out the local businesses and helping promote them and tell their story.”

Mylene Theriault is the other Ambassador on the team. She says they’ve met a lot of amazing New Brunswickers so far, “The people are so amazing. They all have their own stories. I’m meeting the people and getting in touch with them. Even the smallest places of a 1000 people have a lot of great stories to be heard.”

The tour began on June 23, and they’ve been to places including Pacquetville, Blackville, Plaster Rock, Grand Manan, Dieppe, Hampton and Grand Falls so far.

Love for Local NB was born in March of 2020 as an idea to help support local businesses at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was created by the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton, who were looking to mount a widespread community support campaign.

“When I saw this come up that they were looking for an Ambassador for Love for Local, I thought this is me, this is what I want to do. I want to go to every town and celebrate everything that is local in those towns,” Gallant says. “We’ve landed our dream jobs. It is quite an opportunity.”

They’re looking for suggestions from the public on the businesses they should visit before September 23rd. You can make your suggestions in person, or comment on any of Love for Local NB social media channels.

“We have a pretty intense map planned out. We are trying to hit all of the festivals and other things happening in each of the towns. If you see us out there, stop by and say Hi!” Gallant says.
