Sunday Morning Sports For February 17th

In junior hockey action:

The St. Stephen Aces fell to the host Miramichi Timberwolves 6-3.

Adam Zimmermann, Ethan Stuckless and Everett Hicks scored for St. Stephen.

The Aces return to the ice Sunday afternoon when they host the Valley Wildcats at the Garcelon Civic Centre at 3 p.m.

In the NHL:

Calgary downed Pittsburgh 5-4 to snap a season-long four-game losing skid.

Carey Price stopped 34 shots as Tampa Bay blanked Montreal 3-0.

Ryan Dzingel scored in overtime as Ottawa edged Winnipeg 4-3.

Elsewhere, Edmonton fell to the Islanders 5-2, Toronto lost to Arizona 2-0, Vancouver fell to San Jose 3-2, and Boston doubled up the Los Angeles Kings 4-2.

Meantime, Edmonton has acquired Sam Gagner from Vancouver in exchange for Ryan Spooner.

The 2019 Canada Winter Games are officially underway in Red Deer, Alberta.

New Brunswick fell to Quebec 5-2 in men’s hockey action.

In ringette, New Brunswick lost to Manitoba 8-5.

In ACAA basketball:

The UNB Saint John women fell to the University of King’s College 55-43

Emily Fitzpatrick recorded nine points for the Seawolves.

Meanwhile, Austin Buchanan had a game-high 19 points as the UNB Saint John men downed UKC 72-68.
