In the “Q”

The Saint John Sea Dogs shut out the Moncton Wildcats last night 5-0.

In MLB

The Toronto Blue Jays edged the Boston Red Sox 4-3, the Baltimore Orioles fell to the New York Yankees 7-3, the Atlanta Braves took a 5-3 win over the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners lost in extra innings to the Oakland Athletics 9-8.

With the win, the Blue Jays are now tied for the number one wildcard spot with the Orioles. The Tigers trail by one and a half games and the Mariners were eliminated from playoff contention after their loss last night.

In the NHL

In preseason action, the Canadiens beat the Senators in overtime 3-2, the Bruins beat the Flyers in a shootout 4-3 and the Hawks shut out the Blues 4-0.

In the CFL

The Calgary Stampeders beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 36-17 and the BC Lions edged the Ottawa RedBlacks 40-33.
