After narrowly winning the leadership for the federal Conservative party, Andrew Scheer wasted no time in going on the attack.
Scheer eked out a win in the 13th round of voting, gathering 51% of the votes, just barely edging out rival Maxime Bernier.
Scheer promptly began blasting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s policies claiming they are punishing successful and hardworking Canadians.
“Trudeau’s Liberals are so focused on photo ops [and] selfies that they don’t care if their policies hurt, and not help the middle class,” says Scheer. “Sunny ways don’t pay the bills.”
Scheer continued by claiming there was a better way, “a system that rewards hardwork and success which benefits all Canadians, as Prime Minister I will focus on results with conservative policies that create prosperity and provide opportunities for every single Canadian.”

Scheer was greeted with thunderous applause, and resounding cheers by party faithful when he announced his intention to scrap the carbon tax which he calls a simple cash grab.
“We have to get a grip on this out of control spending, it’s not fair to future generations of Canadians,” says Scheer. “And one of the things that has motivated me is the very strong belief that I cannot allow Justin Trudeau to do the same thing to my five children that his father did to my generation.”
If elected Prime Minister, Scheer also promised to scrap the HST and GST from home heating and electricity.
Scheer won 51% of the votes on the 13th ballot, just barely eking out a victory over Maxime Bernier.
