Support Operation Feed Saint John: Feeding Hope, One Child at a Time

Today was a beautiful day for a BBQ at the Commissionaires Office on Mark Drive, but it was more than just a sunny afternoon—it was a reminder of the incredible work being done by Operation Feed Saint John. This initiative, led by first responders including police, fire, military personnel, nurses, and medics, is making a powerful impact by feeding children across our city.

Many of these volunteers have experienced PTSD and trauma in their own lives, yet they have chosen to channel their strength and compassion into helping others. Their mission is simple but profound: feed the children of Saint John. In a city with the highest child poverty rate in Canada, their work could not be more urgent.

Saint John faces unique challenges. We have lower wages, fewer benefits, and significantly fewer post-secondary opportunities than other cities in Atlantic Canada. Despite paying tremendous taxes over the past decades, our community continues to struggle with poverty and limited access to education. The demand at our food banks this year has been the highest I have ever seen—and that is saying something after more than 40 years of volunteering.

That is why Operation Feed Saint John matters so much. These everyday heroes are stepping up to fill a critical gap, ensuring that children do not go hungry. Their efforts deserve our full support. Whether it is through donations, buying a t-shirt or 50/50 ticket, or attending one of their BBQs, every contribution helps feed a child and build a stronger community.

Let us stand behind the good folks at Operation Feed Saint John. Let us show our gratitude and help them continue their mission. Because when we feed our children, we feed hope—and hope is exactly what Saint John needs.

Love ❤️ Saint John.
