Supreme Court Of Canada Chief Justice Resigning On December, 15th.

Canada’s Chief Justice is retiring effective December 15th of this year.

The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1989, and elevated to Chief Justice 11 years later.

McLachlin is the first woman to hold the position of Chief Justice, and is also the longest serving person in that role, at almost 18 years.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated McLachlin on her retirement, saying she has been a judicial leader and trailblazer for almost four decades.
