Sussex Hopes To Grow Its Economy In 2017

The Town of Sussex remained resilient after a rough economic blow last year when Potash Corp closed its nearby mine leaving hundreds jobless.

But according to the mayor, the town is still moving ahead on making improvements to services it offers residents.

Marc Thorne says the community is optimistic that 2017 will be a year of growth.

“We have a lot of capital work still planned. We feel that the hard work by our business community is going to pay off at some point,” he notes.

Thorne adds the business community really came together last year and felt the best way to grow the economy was to focus on traditional industries such as agriculture and forestry.
