The tax rate for Rothesay will soon be going up by one cent to $1.20 with the official passing of the 2015 town budget.
There had been talk of increasing the tax rate by two cents however Mayor Bill Bishop explains the assessments turned out to be higher than expected.
Townspeople will see about a six percent increase in the sanitary sewer and water rates.
More than 3.7-million-dollars of the approximately 16-million in the Capital Budget will be allocated to parks including 2.4-million for major improvements to the Rothesay Common and 1.3-million for trails and parks in French Village.
1.4 million-dollars being allocated to street surfacing which will include the completion of the French Village Road, as well as more than 6 million dollars for the phase one construction of a new multi-purpose recreation complex.
