Premier Brian Gallant has taken a lot of flak for inflated property tax assessments with Opposition leader Blaine Higgs going so far as to call for his resignation.
The Atlantic Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, Kevin Lacey says homeowners have been gouged but says a good move is to have a judge investigate the mess and there should be consequences for those responsible.
It has been revealed the decision to fast track the new technology being blamed for the problem was made in the Premier’s own office.
Lacey wonders if inflating property tax assessments in the province has been par for the course over the years or was it a one off.
