A 17‑year‑old has pleaded guilty to several charges after RCMP say a stolen vehicle fled from police in Grand Bay‑Westfield.
Mounties say an officer attempted to stop a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse on Nerepis Road around 3:50 p.m. on Thursday.
Police said the driver sped off through a school zone, but officers did not pursue. The vehicle was later found on Eagle Road in Welsford.
Authorities explained that it had been reported stolen, and the 17‑year‑old was arrested at the scene without incident.
His identity cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The teen appeared in court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and breach of probation.
He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court at a later date for sentencing.
Police said anyone with information about the incident, or with dash cam or security footage from the area, is asked to contact the Grand Bay‑Westfield RCMP at 506-757-1020.
