The PSA is being put together by group called Tema, and their motto is because Heroes are Human. They dedicate their time and resources to helping those who may be suffering from mental health injuries
Angela Gevaudan, who tragically lost her husband who was an RCMP officer in 2014. She also suffered from PTSD and she knows firsthand, what a person can go through, “I was able to admit to myself first and then to my family physician, that I knew I has post traumatic stress and I knew I was struggling more than I was willing to admit. Often what happens when you suffer from PTSD, you add on depression and anxiety because we are not looking at it soon enough.
With this PSA, Tema hopes to remove the stigma attached to PTSD and other mental health issues, and they hope to draw attention to the fact, that You are not alone.
Paramedics, dispatchers, police officers, firefighters, nurses, correctional officers, CBSA officers and military are all invited to attend tomorrow morning. Gevaudan says you should wear your uniform if possible, so you can be easily identified.
