Temporary closure set for Route 1 westbound on-ramp

The Main Street Viaduct ramp to Route 1 westbound will be closed on Wednesday for infrastructure upgrades.

The City of Saint John said the closure will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of work under the Main Street Active Transportation Project.

Recommended detours are Garden Street along Paradise Row and Crown Street through the One Mile Interchange.

Road and sidewalk signs will be in place to direct traffic, and delays are expected.

Drivers are reminded to stay alert. Lane widths have been reduced, dedicated bike lanes have been added, and the speed limit is now 50 km/h to improve safety in the area.
