Tentative agreement for N.B. correctional workers

A new tentative agreement has been reached for around 750 correctional workers in New Brunswick.

The deal between the provincial government and CUPE Local 1251 was announced by the province on Thursday.

“I thank the negotiating teams for their hard work and diligence in reaching this tentative agreement,” Finance Minister René Legacy said in a news release.

“These employees serve critical roles in public safety, and I look forward to the agreement ratification in the coming weeks.”

The union represents correctional officers, correctional cooks, custodial workers and human services counsellors, among others.

No details are being released until the tentative agreement is ratified by both sides.
