Dr. Tony Reiman is a medical oncologist at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John and will lead the team of researchers.
Reiman says it’s a national project researching myeloma cancer.

He says a lot of the funding will flow through UNBSJ and Reiman will be helping coordinate funds both in New Brunswick and outside of the province.
Reiman says the team in Saint John will be conducting research and receive, and bank specimens from 250 myeloma patients who take part in the project.
Darrell Fox, brother of Terry, was on hand for the announcement and calls Saint John a special place for him because that’s where he met up with his brother for the Marathon of Hope.
Roughly 8,000 people are living in Canada with myeloma and a cure has not been found.
