Fifty swimmers from across Atlantic Canada will take part in “The Big Swim” across the Northumberland Strait on Sunday.
Sophie Deslongchamps of Scoudouc is among those who will swim 14 kilometres from Cape Jourimain to Borden-Carleton under the Confederation Bridge.
“Each swimmer has their kayaker with them and the kayaker is responsible to make sure the swimmer is safe and to make sure that you have your water and food,” she notes.
This is the second time Deslongchamps has taken part in the Big Swim and she only learned to swim about nine months before last year’s event.
Swimmers hope to raise more than $150,000 for Brigadoon Village, a summer camp for children with chronic conditions.
