The cupboard is a bit bare and needs refilling.
That is the case at the furniture bank at Lancaster Baptist church on the west side. The church teamed up with the Saint John Y’s Newcomer
Connections to help the Syrian families that arrived in 2015 get settled into the community.
Angelique Simpson from Newcomer Connections tells us they need a lot of the items anyone would need when setting up a house.
“Kitchen table, chairs, coffee tables that sort of thing,” said Simpson “We do try to avoid couches and mattresses or anything that’s fabric because it’s difficult to launder from a pest control perspective so we try to avoid those”.

More than 100 newcomers arrived in Saint John last year from a variety of countries.
A drive for donations of household items is being held tomorrow from 9am to 1pm at Lancaster Baptist church at 87 Church Avenue west.
Reminder: Our friends at Lancaster Baptist are happily accepting furniture donations tomorrow! If you have goods… https://t.co/ttnyN8WQW5
