Canadians can support their veterans in a new way this year.
The Royal Canadian Legion has launched the Digital Poppy.
Thomas Irvine, Dominion President of the Legion, tells Acadia News it’s become very popular.
“Looks like we’re going to be doing it for years on end. This is a simple way for us to bring the Legion more into the digital world and make it easier for people to donate to the poppy campaign.”

Irvine says they wanted to reach out to younger Canadians.
“To keep the traditional poppy the way it is, and that will never change, we’ll always have that, but it gives the younger generation an opportunity to understand what the poppy is.”
Digital poppies are being endorsed by Canadian celebrities like Margaret Atwood and Don Cherry.
