A Saint John immigration strategy, a real estate alignment exercise and closing several cases involving vacant buildings are just a few of the items included in the City of Saint John’s Roadmap to Smart Growth.
Mayor Don Darling announced to the media gathered that the old synagogue at the corner of Wellington Row and Carleton Street has been sold to Cooke Aquaculture.

He says they will use it for offices and a centre for their IT professionals adding he’s excited because it means more employment in the Uptown core of Saint John.
He says while looking at population growth they discovered no one agency had responsibilty for that and he says now they will not be in a position of surprise and that they will work with the various agencies on what they expect and move forward in a more organized and aligned way.
Tucker Park and Sandy Point Road have been identified as target areas for tax-base growth.
