Several Saint John agencies offer initial help after certain problems but that assistance is limited to a few days or weeks.
When it comes to long term help, Fresh Start Services for Women can step in and help people turn things around.
Board chair Peter McKelvey tells us their two outreach workers help people find existing services.
McKelvey says they help that person find an apartment, get social services and a tax credit if they are eligible and they also line them up with donated furniture, clothing and a food bank.
Fresh Start Services is hosting a Spring fundraiser tomorrow night at the Hillcrest Baptist Church at 7.
Live performers include Leo Lafleur, Claudette Norman, Debbie Harrity and Del Worden.
