Three Businesswomen From The Region Share Stories Of Success

Three businesswomen from the region sharing their stories of success at the International Women’s Day Women In Business Panel at the New Brunswick museum in uptown Saint John.

Elaine Shannon was one of the panelists. She has a company called Shannon Multimedia Productions and she is a producer, director and writer. Shannon says she’s in a very male-dominated industry but when you’re strong in who you are and authentic then you can stand around the table and be heard.

“Don’t wait for somebody to come and say to you ‘oh I think I’m gonna give you raise’ we need to ask. And because as women we stand back because we don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings…”

Donna Mazerolle is the owner of Donna Mazerolle and Associates and is a certified professional accountant. She tells us whatever you want to do, make sure that you love it and that you’re going into it for the right reasons.

“Because it’s definitely going to be harder than it will be easier, down the road it gets a little easier but there’s always going to be ups and downs. The economy kind of drives that,” Mazerolle tells us.

The third panelist was president of Freedom Travel Ellen Tucker.

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 of every year.
