Three Historic Uptown Buildings Meet Same Fate As Jellybean Houses

Wrecking crews have made way for a new housing development on the corner of Union Street and Wellington Row.

Three historic buildings that once neighboured the Jellybean houses have been torn down.

Saint John Non-Profit Housing bought the buildings at 115, 117 and 119 Union Street, across from Loyalist House, to make way for a mixed-income housing complex.

Habitat for Humanity spent a few days salvaging what they could from the buildings that dated back to the 1860’s.

The Jellybean houses were torn down in April to make way for the same development.

Construction is expected to start in the near future.
