Thursday Morning Sports For August 14th

In the Majors, Baltimore got homers from Jonathan Schoop and Adam Jones in the eighth inning as the Orioles rallied for a 5-3 win over the Yankees…….The Blue Jays fell 7 and a half game behind the O’s after losing in Seattle, 2-0…….Earlier, the Red Sox got by Cincinnati 5-4 on a homer by Mike Napoli.

Weather permitting, The Alpines will wrap up their regular season at Memorial Field tonight against the Moncton Mets with a 7:30 start……Proceeds from tonight’s 50/50 draw will go to the Regional Hospital’s “The Give”.

In the River Valley Oldtimers League, the Desaulnier Surveys over the Browns Flat Alpines 6-1.

The Sea Dogs cutting six players from training camp. They are Kyle Porter, Jonathan Reinhart,Braedyn Asselstine, Shane MacDonald, Jared Ostroski and Shawn Hubley. Porter and MacDonald are going to remain affiliate players with the team. There are 46 players remaining in camp: six goaltenders, 11 defencemen and 29 forwards.

The father of Kevin Ward Junior, the driver struck and killed by Tony Stewart’s car has told The Syracuse Post-Standard that “there’s no reason” for the crash that led to his son’s death. Stewart’s right rear tire appeared to hit him and drag him along the track.
