Thursday Morning Sports For June 1st

In the Stanley Cup final, the Pittsburgh Penguins scored three times in just over three minutes at the start of the third period in a 4-1 win over Nashville to take a 2 games to nothing lead. Rookie Jake Guentzel again scored the winning goal. He has fired five winning goals during the playoffs which is a record for a rookie. Game 3 goes Saturday night in Nashville.

The Los Angeles Kings have acquired the rights to Saint John Sea Dog Bokondji “Boko” Imama from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for the Kings seventh-round selection in the 2018 NHL Draft. The trade is conditional on the Kings signing Imama to an NHL contract before the deadline later today.

In the Majors, Pablo Sandoval hit a tiebreaking single in Boston’s four run sixth inning and Drew Pomeranz struck out eight for his second straight win as the Red Sox beat the Chicago White Sox 4-1. Sandoval went 3 for 4 in his first game since being activated from the disabled list…..Adam Jones hit a homer and drove in 5 runs for Baltimore in a 10-4 win over the New York Yankees…..Devon Travis hit a tiebreaking two run home run in the seventh inning as Toronto edged Cincinnati 5-4 to complete a three game sweep.
