Thursday Morning Sports For May 11th

The Saint John Sea Dogs have made it to the Memorial Cup for the third time after winning the President Cup in four straight following a 5-1 win over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. Spencer Smallman scored twice for Saint John while Bokondji Imama, Simon Bourque and Matthew Highmore added one each. Mathieu Joseph had four assists.

In the NHL playoffs, Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 29 shots to shut out Washington 2-0 in in the 7th and deciding game to send Pittsburgh to the Eastern Conference final against the Ottawa Senators……Anaheim came from behind to edge Edmonton 2-1 to win the 7th game of that series. The Ducks will now face Nashville in the Western final.

In the Majors, Ryan Goins singled home the winning run in the ninth inning as Toronto rallied from a four run deficit to get by the Cleveland Indians 8-7. Jose Bautista hit a three run homer for the Jays….The Boston Red Sox dropped their second straight to Milwaukee 7-4. Elsewhere, it was Seattle 11 Philadelphia 6….San Francisco 6 NY Mets 5…..Houston 4 Atlanta 2…..Colorado 3 Chicago Cubs 0….Oakland 3 Los Angeles Angels 1….St. Louis 7 Miami 5….Washington 7 Baltimore 6….Tampa Bay 12 Kansas City 1….Texas 4 San Diego 3…..Arizona 7 Detroit 1 and Los Angeles Dodgers 5 Pittsburgh 2.

Red Sox lefthander David Price who has been hampered by a sore left elbow is scheduled to make his first minor league rehab start Sunday with Pawtucket.

In the NBA playoffs, it was Boston 123 Washington 101 to take a 3 games to 2 lead.
