Toronto Man Unconcerned About Possibility Of Ghosts In His Former Village Jail Residence

A Toronto man is planning to live in the former village jail of Dorchester for his retirement.

Bill Steele bought the jail earlier this month and will move in on June 1st.

We asked him about the possibility of the jail being haunted since people were hanged there.

“I’m not really concerned about that, I didn’t feel anything bad there, I researched the history as far as the deaths that occurred there,” says Steele. “Jails aren’t really a great place to kinda hang out, so I’m good with all of it.”

Steele says he has plans for his future here.

“There will be accommodations available in the cells, lots of my friends say you should do a bed and breakfast, or a motel or some sort of thing like that, or an Airbnb,” Steel says. “And the zoning is actually allowed for it so I’m definitely going to look into something like that.”

Steele says other options include an antique shop or a local museum.
