Truckers To Convoy For Hope In Moncton Area

The trucking community will come together to help raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast, lung, prostate and colorectal cancer.

Up to 100 decorated transport trucks will hold their 10th annual Convoy for Hope on Saturday morning.

Co-chair Jo-Anne Phillips says they will leave the Salisbury Big Stop, make their way into downtown Moncton, and then to the final stop at the Moncton Coliseum, “We’re going to take up a lot of space on the roads, so we are leaving between 11 a.m. and noon, that we will be travelling. If you can just pull over, and celebrate, honk the horn and wave at us as we come by.”

The Convoy for Hope was an initiative started by female truckers, who were raising awareness in the fight against breast cancer. It has now grown to include all truckers, and there are seven held across the country.

Some of the truckers are participating in honour or memory of friends or family who have battled cancer or who have lost their fight.

The Atlantic convoy is one of the longest standing.

In the 10 years of the event, over $340,000 has been raised to help in the fight against breast, lung, prostate and colorectal cancer.
