New Brunswick novelist David Adams Richards has been named to the Senate.
The appointment comes while Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is visiting the province making stops in Moncton and Miramichi.
A news release says Richards was chosen using the open merit-based process put in place by the Liberal government early last year.
