Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has offered Ottawa’s full support to the people of Fort McMurray.
Trudeau says the thoughts and prayers of all Canadians are with the people affected by the wildfire, in which he calls “absolutely devastating”
He says “our government and all Canadians will stand by the people of Fort McMurray now, and when it’s time to rebuild”.
Trudeau says he spoke to Alberta Premier Rachel Notley and assured her that he would do all he can to support the people of Fort McMurray over the days, weeks and months to come.
Though Alberta’s loss is profound, we will get through this together – as neighbours, friends and Canadians. You can count on our support.
