Tuesday Morning Sports For August 26th

In the Majors, the leaders in the American League East, the Baltimore Orioles hit five homers to beat Tampa Bay 9-1…….The Yankees remain six back, winning their fifth in a row, 8-1 over Kansas City with Derek Jeter driving in two of the runs……Yeonis Cespedes drove in the winning run in the 10th to give the Red Sox a 4-3 win over the Blue Jays who fell 9 back of the O’s. The Red Sox break an 8 game losing streak but remain last in the division, 18 games back.

In the West, Oakland is tied for first with the Angels after an 8-2 win over Houston while Los Angeles were beaten by Miami 7-1.

In the River Valley Oldtimers League best of three quarter final, the Desaulnier Surveys eliminate the Browns Flat Alpines 10-5.

The Ottawa Senators sign goalie Craig Anderson to a three year contract extension.

Milos Raonic swept Japan’s Taro Daniel in straight sets in the first round of the US Open tennis championships.
