Tuesday Morning Sports For August 4th

In the Majors…….David Price struck out 11 over eight innings to win his first Blue Jays start and Josh Donaldson hit a tiebreaking home run as Toronto beat Minnesota 5-1……..The Jays now trail the Yankees in the American League East by 5 and a half games. The Yankees and Red Sox were idle.

In the National League, the New York Mets took over sole possession of first in the East with their fourth win in a row, 12-1 win over Miami while Washington lost to Arizona 6-4.

Five players from the Saint John Port City Pirates will play for the New Brunswick Selects in the Canada Cup Tournament this week in Saskatoon. The five Pirates are Ryan Nason, Tyler Holey, Shaun Hickey, Dawson GBriffin and Matt Nason.

In the CFL, Hamilton defeated Toronto 34-18 to move into a tie with the Argonauts atop the East Division standings.

Former Sea Dog Mike Hoffman has been awarded a 2 million dollar, one year deal with Ottawa by an arbitrator…… The 25 year old Hoffman had 27 goals and 21 assists in his rookie year for the Senators.

In rugby at the Pacific Nations Cup, the U.S. got by Canada 15-13.
