In the NHL, Tyler Johnson scored twice as the Tampa Bay Lightning got by the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 for their seventh straight victory and are now tied with Florida…..Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton each had three points in San Jose’s 6-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens…..The Rangers edged Columbus 2-1….It was Detroit over Dallas in overtime 3-2 with Pavel Datysuk getting the winner….Pittsburgh shut out Arizona 6-0 with Sidney Crosby setting up three of the goals and Brayden Schenn had a hat trick in Philadelphia’s 5-3 win over Calgary.

The Boston Bruins did not trade pending unrestricted free agent Loui Eriksson at the deadline but did acquire forward Lee Stempniak from the New Jersey Devils and defenseman John-Michael Liles from the Carolina Hurricanes.

Quarterback Tom Brady and the New England Patriots have agreed to a two year contract extension through the 2019 season.
