Tuesday Morning Sports For March 21st

In the Major Midget final, the Moncton Flyers beat the Saint John Vito’s 6-2. The Vito’s still lead the 8 point series 4 points to 2 with game 4 tonight in Moncton.

In the NHL, it took until the 58th minute before the Leafs pulled in front with Tyler Bozak scoring the go ahead goal on a power play in Toronto’s 4-2 victory over Boston……Edmonton shut out Los Angeles 2-0 to pull one point ahead of Calgary as Cam Talbot records his second straight shutout and former Bruin Milan Lucic scores one of the Oiler goals…..Elsewhere, it was Buffalo 2 Detroit 1……..Nashville 3 Arizona 1 and Dallas 1 San Jose 0.

The Saint John Sea Dogs handed out their team awards after finishing the regular season with the best record in the “Q”. 21 year old Matthew Highmore picked up two awards- Most Valuable Player and Top Scorer. Thomas Chabot picked up two awards as top Defenseman and the Fan’s Choice. Spencer Smallman won the Community Service Award. Team player went to Cole Reginato and the Academic award went to goalie Callum Booth while goalie Alex D’Orio was rookie of the year.

Terry Odishaw of Curl Moncton is tied for the the lead at the Canadian Senior Men’s Curling Championship in Fredericton at 2 and 0 after wins over Saskatchewan, 4-3 and the Northwest Territories, 10-1. In women’s play, the Kathy Hicks rink from the Capital Winter Club, representing New Brunswick, is 1 and 1 after losing to Nova Scotia 10-2 and a 4-3 win over Prince Edward Island.

The Saint John Riptide are in Moncton tonight in the National Basketball League.
