Two Men Arrested In Fentanyl Case On Burnt Church First Nation

Two men have been arrested after RCMP recently found a pill containing fentanyl on the Burnt Church First Nation.

Jesse Joe, 35, of Fredericton has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance and breach of probation.

He will remain in custody until a court appearance on April 25.

A 60-year-old man from Burnt Church First Nation has also been arrested but he was released and will appear in court later.

Over the last few weeks, police say several people from Burnt Church have been hospitalized from suspected fentanyl overdoses.

The recent death of a 35-year-old woman on the First Nation is also being investigated.

Tests to determine her cause of death have not yet been completed.
