Two More Schools On Chopping Block

Two more schools are on the chopping block in the Anglophone South School District.

Norton Elementary and Brown’s Flat Elementary could be closing down. Superintendent Zoe Watson says the students at Norton Elementary could go to Apohoqui, Belleisle Elementary, Hampton or Hammond River Valley Elementary School.

The students who attend Brown’s Flat Elementary would shift over to Westfield Elementary.

Meanwhile, a 9 member planning committee has been formed for the new school on the west side that will replace Beaconsfield, St. Patrick’s and Havelock. Its job is to come up with education specifications for the new school which will be large enough to house 470 students.
