Two Nova Scotians Die From COVID-19; 83 New Cases Added

Health officials in Nova Scotia identified 83 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday and announced two more deaths, a man and a woman in their 60s.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang said they have found more instances of community spread – this time in Sydney, Cape Breton.

Strang said the cases are clustered in 20 to 30-year-olds and he wants anyone who can to get tested.

“What we are seeing [and finding] most concerning is this concentration in 20 to 30 year old’s which seems to be local transmission.
We have not had that kind of a concentration within a specific age group in other parts of the province,” Strang said.

Nova Scotia will remain in lockdown until at least mid-June meaning students will not return to the classroom this year.
