Two People Killed In Crash Near Bathurst

Mounties say a woman and a man have died following a three-vehicle crash in northern New Brunswick.

Emergency crews were called to Route 11 in Beresford, near Bathurst, around 6 a.m. Friday.

Investigators believe a southbound pickup truck crossed the centre line, hit a car head-on, and was then struck by a tractor-trailer.

The 53-year-old man from Belledune who was driving the pickup truck died at the scene, along with the 37-year-old woman from Bathurst who was driving the car.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured. A garbage truck also sustained minor damage during the crash.

Autopsies will be conducted to determine the man and woman’s exact cause of death.
