U.S. Border Closure Extended For Canadians

Canadians won’t be able to cross the border into the United States for another month.

The U.S. government is extending restrictions on non-essential travel until September 21.

The closure of the border was set to expire Saturday but the U.S. Department of Homeland Security tweeted Friday the measures will remain in place to minimize the spread of COVID-19, including the Delta variant.

The land border has been closed since March 2020.

Fully vaccinated Americans have been able to enter Canada for non-essential visits since August 9.

The new restrictions don’t impact air travel.

The border also remains closed for another month for those trying to enter from Mexico.
