University Diverts A Lot Of Electronic Waste From Landfill

More than 50,000 pounds of electronic waste has been recycled over the past three years at the University of New Brunswick. That amount of e-waste would equal the weight of three elephants.

According to the university’s Green Review, U-N-B Saint John has successfully converted 30 per cent of its lights to L-E-D and is also home to one of the most energy efficient buildings in the province.

The Hans W. Klohn Commons building is gold certified through the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED program. It’s the only university building in New Brunswick to attain that environmental certification.
