UPDATE: Charlotte Street working taking longer than expected

Work on a section of Charlotte Street in uptown Saint John will take a bit longer than first expected.

Crews are installing traffic lights at the intersection of Charlotte Street and King Square North.

As a result, Charlotte Street is closed to through traffic between Union Street and King Street.

Work began on Monday and was expected to be wrapped up by the end of the week.

However, city officials said Thursday that Charlotte Street will now be closed until the end of day on Jan. 15.

Access to properties and businesses are being maintained during the closure. Traffic detours are in place for motorists and sidewalks remain available for pedestrians.
