UPDATE: Facebook, Instagram coming back online

Several popular social media platforms are beginning to come back online after issues earlier in the day Tuesday.

Users across the globe reported having problems accessing Facebook and Instagram, which are both owned by Meta.

The company acknowledged the issues on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” said Andy Stone, a spokesperson for Meta.

There is no word yet on what was behind the disruption.
