UPDATE: Massive Outage For Bell, Telus Customers Affecting Atlantic Canada

There is a widespread cell service and land line outage across the Maritimes.

Starting around 10:30 this morning, cell service abruptly vanished for many customers of what appears to be several providers although primarily Bell.

Bell Aliant says internet service may also be affected.

It is investigating and working to restore service.

Telus reports a cut cable is to blame for this outage.

The City of Moncton says its municipal services are not affected by the Bell outage and 911 services are still available for all customers on the Bell network including Telus, Virgin and Koodo.

Users of Telus, Virgin and Koodo, which share cell towers with Bell, also appear to be affected.

We are also hearing reports that bank machines are down if they use the Bell Aliant network.

That includes the Bank of Montreal and Scotiabank locations on Main street.

Walmart, Superstore (Main Street) and Sobey’s Vaughan Harvey are all open and their debit/credit machines are working.

The Shopper’s Drug Mart in CF Champlain is accepting credit, but their debit service is down.

You are recommended to check in advance with any stores to see if their credit/debit system is working.
