Police say nothing suspicious was found after a bomb threat at a Saint John school on Wednesday.
Several police cars are visible outside Centre scolaire Samuel-de-Champlain in Millidgeville.
Members of the Saint John Fire Department were also on the scene at the building.
The police force confirmed the threat in a social media post just before noon Wednesday.
“Police are on scene searching the property,” Staff Sgt. Sean Rocca said in an email to our newsroom.
“The public is asked to avoid the area. Parents should follow communication from the school.”
In a follow-up email shortly after 1:15 p.m., Rocca said officers searched the school but did not find anything suspicious.
Jean-Luc Thériault, a spokesperson for the Francophone South School District, said an “emergency protocol” was activated at the school on Wednesday morning.
“After consultation with police authorities, we decided to relocate students to Millidgeville North School around 10 a.m.,” Theriault said in an email, adding that all students and staff are safe.
Thériault said all students were sent home for the day but will return to the school on Thursday.
