UPDATE: Saint John Fire Crews Battled Structure Fire On City Road For 10.5 Hours

It took Saint John firefighters ten and a half hours to put out a structure fire on City Road yesterday.

Platoon Chief Ed Moyer says the fire was located at the old City Laundry building.

Moyer says the building suffered “extensive” damage.

Emergency crews are on the scene as well.

Saint John Police are asking residents to avoid the area.

Moyer says five fire crews were on site with 25 fire fighters battling the blaze.

City Laundry closed in 2011 after operating in Saint John for almost a century.

The fire is now under investigation.
