UPDATED: Firefighters Battling House Fire In Rothesay

A firefighter battling a house fire in Rothesay being sent to hospital with minor injuries according to Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department Platoon Chief Kevin Clynick.

Clynick tells us they called mutual aid for a crew from Saint John to come to the scene at Rothesay Road and Gentleman Drive. The crew was sent into the building to do a second story search and in doing so, the firefighter put his foot through the floor and wrenched his shoulder.

He was taken to the Saint John Regional Hospital to be assessed.

Clynick describing the fire as “stubborn” and says the damage to the home is fairly extensive because they had to disassemble parts of the inside just to get to the hidden fires in the floors and walls. An officer with the Kennebecasis Regional Police noticed smoke coming from the home while driving by just after 1am, there was nobody at home when the fire broke out.

The cause is not yet known.
