UPDATED: Four Dead, 40 Injured In London Attack

Four people are dead and 40 injured in a terror attack near the UK Parliament in London.

Among those who were killed are a police officer who was protecting Parliament, and a man shot by police who is thought to be the attacker.

The Metropolitan police’s deputy commissioner and the national head of counter-terrorism Mark Rowley, delivered a briefing on the situation.

He says a car was driven over Westminister Bridge, hitting and injuring people, crashed near the UK Parliament and then a man with a knife continued the attack and tried to get to Parliament.

“The officer’s family have been made aware,” says Rowley.

Police have made 7 arrests in six raids as part of the investigation.

“My thoughts are with all those who have been affected by today’s attack and as a service, we’ve lost one of our own as he acted to protect the public and his colleagues. This is a day we planned for, but hoped would never happen.”
