Saint John police say a man injured during a weekend altercation on the Market Square Boardwalk has died.
Police say the man, who has been identified as Anthony Dwyer, passed away around 9 p.m. Monday.
Investigators say there was an argument between two men on Friday evening and a 54-year-old man “dropped” after being struck and hit his head.
The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and police arrested a 19-year-old man shortly after.
William Ronald Jordan appeared in a Saint John courtroom on Monday and was charged with assault causing bodily harm.
Jordan was remanded into custody and is due back in court on Thursday afternoon for a bail hearing.
Police say the Crown will now consider “more serious charges”.
