The New Brunswick RCMP has deemed the suspicious disappearance of Jamie Leard a homicide.
On Sunday morning, 37-year-old Henry Alexander Joseph Pottie and 28-year-old Sean Patrick Patterson were charged with first-degree murder after appearing in Shediac Provincial Court via teleremand.
The pair will appear in Moncton’s provincial court on June 9 at 1:30 p.m.
Jamie Leard of Upper Cape was last seen on May 26. He was reported missing on May 28, the same day his silver 2012 Mazda 3 was found abandoned in Springhill, Nova Scotia.
On Thursday, police discovered human remains behind an abandoned mobile home on Quarry Road in Coburg.
“We are still waiting for autopsy results and formal positive identification of the human remains located on June 3, however, investigators have gathered enough information to determine that Jamie Leard died as a result of homicide,” says Cpl. Hans Ouellette of the New Brunswick RCMP.
Two men and a woman were arrested in Upper Sackville on Saturday in connection to the disappearance of Leard. Since then, the woman has been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
